Festival Fringing - April 2


Dave Weisser (cornet/vocal); Jude Murphy (alto/flute/vocal); Doug Kennard (piano); Matt Long (bass); Stan Praszczcelek (drums).
Hardly a review as I only caught the last couple of numbers before heading for The Crusader, a.k.a as the number 27, however, passing by the Prohibition Bar, the wail of a downhearted frail lured Russell and I into this intimate venue.
Turned out the frail wasn't at all downhearted it was just the song she was singing which wasn't Birth of the Blues. The 'frail' in question was Jude Murphy and with partner Dave blowing cornet who needed Jack Webb and Peggy Lee?
The Pro Bar seems to have acted as a sort of fringe festival venue this year. Whether it's official or not I don't know but well worth considering for next year's late nighters.

Thanks for the nice mention, Lance! What a buzz it was for Dave and me to play that material with such funky dudes as Doug, Stan and Matt.
