CD Review - Jazz @ The Spotted Dog, Birmingham

The Spotted Dog in Digbeth, Birmingham, hosts weekly jazz sessions and this CD showcases the various bands who play there. I'm not sure if the CD is generally available or just a promo re gigs at the pub (every Tuesday). However, I'm sure it will be on sale at the pub and no doubt also available via the website.
The bands represented are the Birmingham Jazz Orchestra; Hanu-Tori; Mark Pringle's Moveable Feast; Toby Boalch Sextet; Mike Fletcher Trio; Outward Quartet; Jonathan Silk Big Band; FRIDA; Young Pilgrims; Autumn.
A diversity of styles indicating the vibrant scene that's happening in just one pub in our, so I'm told, "Second City".
If you're in Birmingham, drop by, on a Tuesday, for a Guinness and some jazz.
Thank you, Jonathan Silk (pictured), for this. If ever I'm down that way I'll certainly look in - providing there's more than Guinness on offer!
This got me around to thinking that there's a whole lot of bands that have made CDs in our "First City" [Newcastle] and wouldn't it be good if someone were to put together a compilation of what our north-east bands are up to?
And, whilst sales generated between, say, 12 bands, wouldn't amount to a hill of beans each, it would, however, make for a decent charitable donation to whatever...
